Research Leader in Tactical Electronic Warfare Assessment
The Total Defence Research Institute (FOI) is a government agency conducting world-leading research in defense and security to support Sweden's military and civil defense. The research spans several areas, including underwater, cyber defense, space, electronic warfare, sensor systems, civil defense, CBRNe (chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive substances), military platforms including weapons and protection, as well as security policy analyses. FOI's research plays a key role in building Sweden's defense capability.
Do you want to work with modeling, simulation, and evaluation, be part of the entire development chain, and make a difference for Sweden's security? Do you see the big picture and want to put things into context? Then FOI could be your new workplace!
About the Position
At the Tactical Electronic Warfare Assessment unit, you will contribute to the defense of Sweden by evaluating complex technical systems. As a researcher, you will develop and work with simulation models of military systems and their sensors, e.g., sensors in an aircraft or vessel, to analyze their performance. In the virtual world, we assist the Armed Forces in developing protection solutions for our ships and aircraft without having to conduct expensive and environmentally burdensome tests.
You will work in one or more project groups, both individually and in teams, primarily using tools in a Windows environment. At FOI, you will participate in the entire development chain, from problem formulation to final delivery. The work includes software development and analysis of data, simulation results, and practical tests to answer questions from our clients and further develop our systems.
For those with a background in system development or testing and evaluation, there are good opportunities to shape how we solve problems and lead projects that directly contribute to Sweden's defense capability.
About the Unit
You will be part of the Tactical Electronic Warfare Assessment unit, which belongs to the Electronic Warfare department. The unit's activities primarily aim to evaluate operational and future threat and protection systems at higher system levels using various methods and tools. The unit's evaluation and simulation work mainly addresses factors related to communication and microwave systems as well as optronic systems.
